The Arcticacres

Arcticacre Dispersed Internet Fiction Project. by Jason Nelson

THE PREMISE: A nonlinear, internet dispersed work of fiction.

The ever evolving story of the Arcticacre family, the five adopted

siblings of the deceased and semi well known physicists

Albert and Patricia Arcticacre.

STORYTELLING THROUGH THE USER INPUT BOX:  Using the many

and varied spaces on the internet where users can enter their thoughts,

ideas, reviews, images, videos and the like, The Arcticacres develops

the story of five siblings, Joe, Helen, Chin, Walter and Belinda Arcticacre,

through their posts, their entries into such web spaces as Amazon book

reviews, yahoo movie reviews, specialty interest forums, video sites such

as youtube.com, google maps etc.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT THROUGH ASSOCIATION: The lives and

development of the Arcticacres will be largely determined by their

experiences within the sites in which they post, and their interaction, both

direct and indirect with other users. In addition, the idea of character voice,

of character profile, must be developed to establish the tone of their

various posts, and to direct where and how they post.

HOW TO READ THE ARCTICACRE INTERNET DISPERSED FICTION:  With all

the components of the fiction entered into forums and reviews on the web,

this work of dispersed fiction will rely on search engines to make the work

readable. Each post or entry throughout the web will contain both the term

Arcticacre, then the full name of the sibling (ex: Joe Arcticacre) and then also

include other fictional places, objects,  processes and products.

The main site for the project will have search engine windows, along with

the search terms to use (the unique name arcticacre, fake product names etc..).

There will also be background information and the project and brief character

sketches and story line updates via a minimal/bare Arcticacre blog on-site.

HOW TO READ NOTE: It is very likely that some of the sections of the Arcticacre

dispersed fiction will be lost due to other user’s requests for removal from sites,

out-dated review replacement or simply not being found by search engines.

An archive of all posts will be kept, along with selected screen shots to detail

the entire fiction. However this will not be made available until a year after my

contribution to the Arcticacre story ends.

ARCTICACRE FICTION PROGRESSION: The fiction will progress daily, with,

on average, four posts throughout the internet a day.  An attempt will be made

to distribute the fiction across the web through a wide section of special

interests, social groups, and international sites. In addition, towards the end

of the one year of my contribution to the Arcticacre dispersed fiction, I will invite

other users, via the same dispersed posting method to begin extending the

Arcticacre clan. To build on the story using the Arcticacre name.

WHY: Using the search engine as the book, and the ever growing background

offered by sites incorporating user entered data to supplement their content,

The Arcticacre Dispersed Internet Fiction Project hides its stories within the net,

small tales published by a hundred thousand publishers.
